Badminton Racquet Warranty

Sports Circuit assists with eligible manufacturer warranty claims for badminton racquets purchased directly from us. A racquet warranty is intended to address qualifying defects in materials or workmanship during normal use.

Manufacturer warranty coverage is separate from the Sports Circuit Return and Refund Policy. A warranty submission does not create an automatic right to a refund, exchange or immediate replacement.

Important: Warranty periods, eligibility requirements, exclusions and available remedies differ by brand and model. The manufacturer's terms applicable to the racquet govern the claim, and the manufacturer makes the final coverage decision.

Warranty Eligibility

Most badminton racquet warranties are limited to the original purchaser and require proof that the racquet was purchased from an authorized retailer. Coverage generally begins on the original purchase date and lasts for the period specified by the brand.

Eligibility may depend on:

  • The racquet brand and model
  • The original purchase date
  • The manufacturer's stated warranty period
  • Whether the customer is the original purchaser
  • Proof of purchase from Sports Circuit
  • The condition of the racquet and how the damage occurred
  • Compliance with the manufacturer's stringing and care requirements
  • Any product registration requirement imposed by the manufacturer

Keep your Sports Circuit receipt or order confirmation, along with any product registration confirmation, for the duration of the warranty period.

What May Qualify for Review

A racquet may qualify for manufacturer review when a structural problem appears to result from a defect in construction, materials or workmanship rather than an impact, collision, stringing issue or ordinary wear.

Examples that may require assessment include:

  • An unexplained frame failure during normal play without evidence of impact
  • A shaft, cone or handle failure that may be related to assembly or bonding
  • An apparent manufacturing flaw visible when the racquet is new
  • A structural separation that occurs under normal intended use
  • A recurring movement or instability that may indicate a construction issue
  • Another defect that may reasonably be attributable to manufacturing

These examples do not confirm coverage. Break patterns, paint marks, stringing condition, grommet wear and signs of contact may all be considered during the manufacturer's assessment.

What Is Usually Not Covered

Manufacturer warranties generally do not cover accidental damage, impact damage, normal deterioration or damage caused by use outside the racquet's intended purpose.

Common exclusions may include:

  • Contact with another racquet, player or object
  • Hitting the court, floor, wall, net post, bench or ceiling
  • Damage caused by throwing, dropping, crushing or stepping on the racquet
  • Cracks, chips or deformation associated with an impact point
  • Damage caused by misuse, abuse, negligence or improper care
  • Damage caused by excessive heat, cold, moisture, sunlight or improper storage
  • Normal wear such as scratches, paint chips, scuffs and cosmetic marks
  • Worn grips, grommets, bumper material or other replaceable components
  • Damage caused by improper stringing technique or an unsuitable stringing machine
  • Damage caused by exceeding the manufacturer's recommended string tension
  • Damage associated with uneven tension, damaged grommets or incorrect mounting
  • Unauthorized repairs, alterations, sanding, drilling or other modifications
  • Racquets with removed, altered or unreadable serial numbers or production codes
  • Products purchased used, as-is, as a demo or from another retailer
  • Loss, theft or damage occurring after the racquet leaves the customer's possession

A broken racquet is not automatically a defective racquet. The location and shape of the break, surrounding marks and overall condition may help determine the most likely cause.

Stringing and Tension Requirements

Badminton frames are placed under substantial stress during stringing. Racquets must be mounted correctly, strung evenly and kept within the tension range permitted by the manufacturer for the specific model.

Damage caused by excessive tension, improper mounting, worn grommets, uneven pulling or poor stringing technique is generally not covered by a manufacturer warranty. Customers are responsible for confirming the recommended tension before authorizing stringing.

Strings, stringing labour, grips, overgrips, stencils and other customization costs are normally separate from the racquet warranty. Unless the manufacturer expressly agrees otherwise, these costs are not reimbursed or transferred to a replacement racquet.

Do not remove the strings after a frame failure unless instructed. The string bed, knots, grommets and break pattern can be important evidence when the manufacturer reviews the cause of damage.

Stop Using an Unsafe Racquet

Stop playing with a racquet that has a visible crack, loose handle, unstable shaft, sharp edge or unusual movement. Continued use can worsen the damage, create a safety risk and make the original cause more difficult to assess.

Information Required for a Claim

To begin a warranty request, provide:

  • Your full name
  • Your Sports Circuit order number or receipt
  • The racquet brand and model
  • The weight and grip size, such as 3U G5 or 4U G5
  • The original purchase date
  • The date the issue was first noticed
  • A detailed explanation of what happened and how the racquet was being used
  • The string brand, string tension and date of stringing, when applicable
  • The name of the store or stringer who completed the stringing, when applicable

Please include clear photographs showing:

  • The complete racquet from the front and back
  • The full frame from both sides
  • The claimed defect or broken area from several angles
  • The shaft, cone, handle and butt cap
  • The serial number, production code and other identifying markings
  • The strings, knots and nearby grommets
  • Any loose or separated components
  • The overall condition of the racquet

A short video may also be requested when the concern involves movement, looseness, vibration or a sound that cannot be demonstrated clearly in photographs.

Preserve the Racquet for Inspection

Until claim instructions are provided:

  • Do not continue using the racquet
  • Do not cut or remove the strings unless directed to do so
  • Do not remove identifying labels, serial numbers or production codes
  • Do not glue, tape, sand, drill, heat or attempt to repair the racquet
  • Do not discard broken or loose components
  • Keep the original receipt, packaging and registration information when available
  • Do not ship the racquet until authorization and shipping instructions are provided

Altering the racquet before inspection may prevent the manufacturer from determining the original cause and may affect warranty eligibility.

Claim Review Process

After receiving a complete submission, Sports Circuit may:

  • Verify the purchase and authorized-retailer details
  • Review the description, photographs and stringing information
  • Request additional images, video or supporting details
  • Ask for the racquet to be brought to Sports Circuit for an initial inspection
  • Submit the claim to the manufacturer on the customer's behalf
  • Provide instructions for a direct claim when required by the manufacturer
  • Arrange shipment to the manufacturer's Canadian warranty centre for inspection

Some claims can be reviewed from photographs. Other claims require the physical racquet and proof of purchase to be sent to the manufacturer. Do not send the racquet to Sports Circuit or the manufacturer until the correct authorization and destination have been confirmed.

Manufacturer Decision and Available Remedies

The manufacturer determines whether the claim qualifies and what remedy, if any, will be provided.

An approved claim may result in:

  • Replacement with the same racquet model
  • Replacement with a comparable model when the original is unavailable
  • Repair when offered by the manufacturer
  • A manufacturer credit or voucher
  • Another remedy permitted under the applicable warranty terms

The customer may not be able to select the replacement colour, weight, grip size or model. Approval of a warranty claim does not automatically entitle the customer to a cash refund from Sports Circuit.

A replacement racquet may remain subject to the original warranty period rather than beginning a new warranty. The manufacturer's terms determine the coverage applicable to any replacement product.

When a manufacturer's inspection process involves disposal of a declined racquet or a charge to return it, Sports Circuit will communicate the available options before proceeding whenever reasonably possible.

Shipping and Related Costs

Depending on the manufacturer's policy, the customer may be responsible for shipping the racquet to Sports Circuit or the warranty centre. Possible costs may include:

  • Shipping the racquet for inspection
  • Returning a racquet when the claim is declined
  • Shipping an approved replacement
  • New strings, stringing labour, grips or customization

Known charges will be communicated before shipment whenever reasonably possible.

Processing Time

Warranty processing time depends on the manufacturer, the completeness of the submission, shipping time and whether physical inspection is required. Claims that must be sent to a manufacturer may take several weeks to complete.

Sports Circuit will assist with reasonable follow-up but cannot guarantee the manufacturer's processing time, coverage decision or replacement availability.
